Since we wanted to get the most of our time in Iowa, we woke up early today even though we didn't have to leave for Illinois until afternoon. Lana prepared a delicious breakfast for us, complete with extra crispy bacon, scrambled eggs, and toast with Lana's amazing homemade strawberry-orange-zucchini marmalade. Marmalade made with zucchini sounds a bit questionable, but after one bite we fell in love with how delicious it was. Definitely a must-try, although, it's likely difficult to come across.
After a filling breakfast, George took us for a joyride around town on his new toy - a motorcycle converted into the coolest trike we've ever seen. Riding on it was even cooler. We felt so hip on the back of that beast in our shades and helmets.

After some good conversation with great people, jumping on their trampoline for a bit (and while jump roping), Nics and I packed our car back up and had one last delicious meal with George and Lana. We had an amazing time in Iowa and we're so thankful to George and Lana for opening up their beautiful home to us for a much-too-short day and and a half.
It was a 4 hour drive from Iowa to our next destination, Illinois. We pulled up in the driveway of our hosts' house and were astounded by the dynamic welcome we received from twin brothers, Dean and Dillon (they will . After an awesome showcase of their amazing vocal talents, the dynamic duo took us out to Portillo's, a popular casual dining restaurant. We had the Italian beef sandwich and it was to die for! The strawberry shake that we drank with it was a delicious treat after a long drive. After that, we went downtown for a walk along a beautiful lake.
Although we've only been in Illinois for a few hours, we're really enjoying our time here. Tomorrow marks the first of several volunteer activities that we will be taking part in. We will be supporting Climate Cycle's Ride/Stride to Recharge event and we're looking forward to the day that will unfold.
We can't believe it's only Day 4 now. It's been such a memorable journey thus far and it's only just beginning.
Can't wait to see where TKC will take us next!
