The long days just seem to get longer, but in a good way. We had one full day to spend in New York today and we did our best to make the most of it. There's a lot to see in the city so one day really only scratches the surface, but we're hoping to do a little more sightseeing tomorrow morning before we head out.
As usual, we had an early start and we decided that the Metropolitan Museum of Art (the Met) was a must-see so we took the subway over and went right when it opened. What an incredible building! We were so impressed by everything, especially the different art exhibits from all over the world.

We also decided that we cannot, absolutely CANNOT, leave NY without seeing Central Park, so you can guess what our next destination was after the Met. Central Park was so huge. We'd always known it was a big park, we just didn't know how big. We started out at Belvedere Castle and took some really nice photos from the top tier. Then, we made our way over to another end, where the Balto statue resides. Nics had her heart set on seeing Balto, so we made the journey to find him.
After a much-too-short stay at the park, we took the subway to Chinatown and met up with Riks' friend Stephanie. The three of us went out for a late lunch at a dimsum place. YUM! Then we just touristed around and bought a few souvenirs for our awesome Crusaders, then checked out Uniqlo. Once we parted ways with Steph after getting to spend some time together for a couple hours, the two of us stopped by the New York Culture Center on our way to the Ambassador Theatre, where we went to watch Chicago the Musical on Broadway! It was amaaazing! Even though we bought the cheapest tickets and our seat were near the back, we still had a pretty great view of the show since it was a fairly intimate space. The live jazz orchestra was so incredible and the sound was so good.
It wouldn't be the Kerouac Crusade if we didn't get lost at least once in NY, so after the show, lo and behold, we took the subway in the wrong direction so it took us an hour to get back to where we were staying, when it really should've only taken like 25 minutes. To kickback after a bit of a tiring ordeal, we met up with our wonderful hosts and joined them and visiting family at a local Mexican restaurant where we had the best tacos and margaritas. What a way to end the night!
Cheers!
