We're always so grateful each time our host(s) prepare us breakfast before our departure. It's nice to have homecooked meals since constantly being on the road means eating tons of unhealthy snacks as meal substitutes. Nico's mom made us a delicious breakfast AND even packed us lunch for the road! (Thank you!) Austin's such a great city with so much to offer. We really enjoyed our time there and wish we could've stayed longer, but such is the case with just about every one of our stops. It was so nice catching up and spending time with Nico in her hometown. We hope to visit again someday.
Nico's mom warned us of the boring stretch of road ahead driving to New Mexico, and we definitely had fair warning. The next 10 hours consisted of road, desert, vultures, dead armadillos, more desert, and more road. Eventually, we pulled over at a McDonald's to use their restroom and made the mistake of ordering food to-go. For an establishment that was not busy, we could not quite understand why the service was so slow or why they forgot one of the three items we ordered. What. The. Heck. The service was so terrible that we overheard another customer complaining about it to the cashier.
After McD's, we proceeded to keep ourselves occupied on the long drive through listening to music, having stimulating conversations, and just munching away on snacks in the car. At one point, nearing sunset, the landscape was so gorgeous that we just HAD to pull over and take pictures. So we did. We even managed to capture a rainbow. What luck.

50 miles later, we began seeing a bombardment of billboards for Cline's Corner, a "world famous" stop for fuel, food, and souvenirs. We don't know about how famous it actually is, but it was a really convenient spot to pick up a few more postcards and souvenirs for our Crusaders. After perusing the corner stop for way too long, we finally arrived at our friend, Angie and her fiancé's apartment in New Mexico. We were greeted by Angie and her energetic, fun-loving dog, Kelly when we arrived.
We had dinner, caught up with each other, played with Kelly, watched some Netflix, and went out to see the Albuquerque city lights. We're pretty exhausted now after another long day on the road.
