Had another early start this morning as we left our host's place in New York and headed for New Jersey. The drive wasn't bad compared to the others we've had, only 6 hours so we only had to stop and switch once. It was also a pretty smooth drive up until we got nearer to NYC, where traffic was a little more congested on the highway. When we first arrived at our new Airbnb place, our host wasn't home, but left the housekeys in the mailbox for us. When we finally did get to meet him, he was super friendly, laid back, and accomodating.
The city we're staying in has a long street that is literally just a row of great restaurants of all kinds of different foods situated next to each other. It was difficult to make a decision on what to eat since most of their Yelp reviews were outstanding. Eventually, we decided on a Filipino restaurant on the corner - who would've thought we'd be eating Filipino food in Jersey? Our eyes are definitely bigger than our stomachs as we ordered WAAAYY too much to eat - pork and chicken adobo flakes with rice, Thai salad (it was actually a Filipino-Thai fusion restaurant), fresh lumpia, and halo halo for dessert. Or maybe our eyes aren't that much bigger than our stomachs after all because we finished everything we ordered, believe it or not. We had plenty of time to work of that enormous meal on the walk back to the place we're staying for the night. Speaking of walking, finding that niche restaurant was no easy feat. We first discovered the little gem on Yelp, but navigating to it was a whole 'nother story. It felt like we'd walked for ages until we finally stumbled upon the quaint establishment. The food was well-worth the journey.

Since our next volunteer event for tomorow isn't until early evening, we can actually sleep in for the first time tomorrow morning! So we decided to watch a movie tonight. We ended up watching Girl, Interrupted starring Angelina Jolie, Winona Ryder, and Whoopi Goldberg. Nics gives it a 4/5 stars. Riks gives it a 3.8/5. It was an interesting film that cajoles you to redefine "crazy." Not bad, not bad at all.
Time to get some sleep in our new cozy quarters.
Looking forward to our next volunteer event!
